I was hesitant to purchase because it is more of a portable/travel irrigator, but was desperate to get my teens to start using. Their dentist recommended I purchase one because their gums weren't as healthy as they could have been. I knew that it would be a novelty at first, but hoped it was easy enough that they would continue. Well my youngest (14) is using it every day. She used it with her braces on and is still with them off. My son (17) used it every day at first, but then tapered off a bit. He is still using it once or twice a week, which I figure is better than not at all. Both of them really like it. At first they had a little trouble (fun) getting use to the water squiring at them, but with some practice they got it under control. We haven't been back to the dentist for a formal report on the health of their gums, but I can see that their teeth are clean without that white film they tend to miss when they just brush and in between their teeth is nice and clean like they flossed. Now my husband wants one! I would definitely purchase one again. I hope this helps someone with their decision because I count on these reviews when I'm purchasing an item on line.
